The new museum, with its distinctive use of horizontal timbers, was designed by Munkenbeck and Marshall facing a park by Maya Lin. The landscaping in and around the museum had to both respond to the park and to the architecture of the building while providing places to sit and contemplate.

A roof terrace on top of this listed building in a Conservation Area had to be set back from the parapet so as not to be seen from the street.

The courtyard of this residential development is shadowed by tall buildings so movement and life was introduced by the use of fountains and striking floor patterns.
